چکیده
Abstract In plasma turbulence, energy and cross helicity are transferred across scales at a constant rate as consequence of nonlinear interactions. incompressible magnetohydrodynamics (MHD), the cascade both quantities can be computed by means temporal evolution second-order structure functions, known Karman–Howarth–Monin (KHM) equations. present work, we derive KHM equation to compute in compressible MHD. Using three-dimensional direct numerical simulations, validate use it measure cross-helicity turbulence properties. Our results show slower development with respect one presence inverse cascades large when strong mean field. We propose relation these phenomena longer duration geomagnetic storms after arrival solar winds observation patchy inertial ranges displaying positive negative rates for certain wind intervals.

The Turbulent Heating Rate in Strong MHD Turbulence with Nonzero Cross Helicity
Different results for the cascade power ε in strong, incompressible MHD turbulence with nonzero cross helicity appear in the literature. In this paper, we discuss the conditions under which these different results are valid. Our conclusions can be expressed in terms of the density ρ, the rms amplitudes z+ and z− of Alfvénic fluctuations propagating parallel and anti-parallel to the background m...
متن کاملStrong Anisotropic MHD Turbulence with Cross Helicity
This paper proposes a new phenomenology for strong incompressible MHD turbulence with nonzero cross helicity. This phenomenology is then developed into a quantitative Fokker-Planck model that describes the time evolution of the anisotropic power spectra of the fluctuations propagating parallel and anti-parallel to the background magnetic field B0. It is found that in steady state the power spec...
متن کامل3-D Simulations of Turbulent Compressible Convection
Three{dimensional simulations of turbulent and fully compressible thermal convection in deep atmospheres are presented and analyzed in terms of velocity power spectra, mixing{length theory, and production of vorticity. Density contrasts across these convective layers are typically around 11. The uid model is that of an ideal gas with a constant thermal conductivity. The Piecewise-Parabolic Meth...
متن کاملPolarization Intermittency in Mhd and Its Influence on Turbulent Cascade
Goldreich-Sridhar model of incompressible turbulence provides an elegant approach to describing strong MHD turbulence. It relies on the fact that interacting Alfvénic waves are independent and have random polarization. However, in case of strong interaction a spontaneous local assymetry can arise. We used direct numerical simulations to show that polarization alignment occurs and it grows large...
